"It's the composition that strikes you: familiar settings, beautiful landscapes, seemingly relaxed sceneries of leisure, mixed with unexpected elements of threats or looming catastrophies in the background. The protagonists in this series are either not aware of the things to come, or they simply cannot be disconcerted. However indifferent they seem, their passiveness only mirrors the sereneness of the overall impression the photos emanate.
There is a familiarity about the almost surreal details, the hidden conflict between relaxation and violence, the highly harmonic use of muted colours, but mostly about the frozen moment these images capture: "Serenity" seems like a series of stills from an unseen movie, a cinematic experience precisely paused at the point of no return."
